The first mention of migraine can be met in letters of a Sumer civilisation 3000 years B.C. In the days of Ancient Egypt the symptoms corresponding to a migraine were considered to be caused by evil ghosts and sometimes the doctors even did cranial trepanation to “let them out”. Though according to Jacob Bogatin some medical products were already mentioned in papyruses for less radical treatment of this disease.
