Hemorrhoids occurs when a vein inside or outside the anal area is inflamed. Hemorrhoids are commonly known as piles. When the blood vessels are inflamed, it becomes swollen and cause pain, itchiness and bleeding around the anal area. Hemorrhoids can occur either inside the rectum or outside the rectum. An internal hemorrhoid is located inside the rectum so it cannot be seen.
