THE SONOMA DIET- ANOTHER LOW CARB DIET PLAN
Posted on January 18, 2010
he Sonoma diet plan is very similar to the Atkins and South Beach diets. Although the kinds of permitted foods etc vary in this diet, the general principles are basically the same.
The Sonoma diet consists of three waves. The first phase or wave is a period of time where you have to avoid different kinds of carbs in the form of sugary foods, fruits, processed foods etc. This is similar to the phases in the Atkins and South Beach diet plans.
The first or induction phase of the Atkins diet required dieters to cut down their carbohydrate intake drastically. Dieters are restricted to consuming just 20 grams of carbohydrates per day. This is very difficult for most people and the sudden drop n carbohydrate intake causes problems like headaches, fatigue etc.
The South Beach diet also has a first phase where dieters are not permitted to eat too many fruits, pastries, pasta and processed foods or alcohol.
Wave 2 of the Sonoma diet permits dieters to include certain kinds of carbohydrates into their diet. The Atkins and South Beach diet also does the same.
In the Atkins diet, people can increase their carbohydrate intake slightly in the second phase till they find out how much carbohydrates they can consume and still lose weight. In the third phase, carbohydrate intake is slightly increased from the second so that the dieters can find out much they can eat and not gain any more weight. Once you have determined the amount of carbs you can consume without gaining weight, you have to stick to this amount for the rest of your life.
The South Beach diet also permits you to re-introduce certain healthy carbs like fruits in your diet during phase two and three. Here the aim is to eliminate unhealthy, processed carbs and re-introduce only those carbohydrates which are healthy for the body. This is a tedious and frustrating process.
Like the Atkins and South Beach diet, the Sonoma diet also requires dieters to stick to a specific diet plan for a lifetime.
So you see, the Sonoma diet is just as difficult to follow as the Atkins and South Beach diets and we do not recommend it for the same reasons. We have formulated a new 11 Day Diet plan where users can eat unlimited food portions. Moreover, there are three cheat days where you can eat whatever you wish. This diet plan is easy to follow and highly effective. You can start using this diet plan right here.
