The Rice Diet is a diet plan which has gained much popularity. Unlike what the name suggests, this diet plan is not based on rice. As a mater of fact, this diet plan can be followed only under strict medial supervision. It was designed in Duke University for those people who are struggling with problems like obesity, hypertension, heart problems etc.
If you want to follow the Rice Diet, you will have to do so from the Rice House in Durham, North Carolina. Doctors here help and follow you throughout the duration of the diet. Regardless of where in the world you are, you will have to go to the Rice House to participate in this program.
During the first phase of this diet plan, you can eat only grain and fruits. Since the body is unaccustomed to such a diet, you can do this only under medical supervision. During the next phase you can add fish, carbs, vegetables etc to your diet.
Several people from all over the world do come to the Rice House in Durham and stay there for 4 to 8 weeks as they embark on this program. It is undoubtedly expensive with all the medical supervision and care it calls for. It is useful for seriously obese people and those who need to shed lots of weight.
The Cabbage Soup Diet is also called the Mayo Clinic Diet. This diet plan should be followed for 7 days. It allows you to eat unlimited portions of cabbage soup throughout. Why cabbage soup? Because it does not have many calories. In our opinion, this diet plan ahs been formulated rather haphazardly. On some days you get to eat unlimited quantities of fruit along with cabbage soup whereas on other days you can eat unlimited amounts of vegetables. On some days you can eat unlimited amounts of rice and on others bananas. It must be obvious by now that this is not a healthy diet plan. This is a diet plan for those who are willing to starve themselves by eating minimum calories so that they can lose weight.
