Obesity is a very common problem these days. There are so many people suffering from weight associated problems. Some people blame their excess weight on carbohydrates whereas others blame slow metabolism.

People are under the impression that a high carbohydrate intake leads to weight gain. This is not entirely true. Yes, carbohydrates do contain claries but these are not the body’s only source of calories. Proteins and fats also contain calories. What determines the body’s weight gain or weight loss is not the amount of calories you consume but the kind of calories you take in.

The body needs a perfect balance of carbohydrates, proteins and healthy fats to keep it strong and healthy. Avoiding any one of these nutrients will cause severe health problems. Therefore, the key lies in maintaining the right balance between these nutrients in your diet.

Eating the wrong kind of calories will result in the excess calories being deposited as fat tissue. For instance, if you take in too much sugar containing foods, the body will not be able to use all those calories and the excess will be converted into fat and deposited under the tissues, causing weight gain.

Some people find that small portions and a well balanced diet do not seem to make a difference in their weight. This is probably because they have slow metabolism. It is a fact that different people have different metabolic rates. This explains why some people gain weight even in spite of eating next to nothing while others can eat all they wish and still stay skinny.

On point to remember while trying to lose weight is that fats are not your enemy. Your body needs certain healthy fatty acids to help maintain hormone balance and overall well being.

Resorting to fat free foods is not a weight loss solution either. Although these foods may be low in fats, they contain other kinds of calories which if taken in excess will result in weight gain.

The secret behind successful weight loss is to eat foods which have fat burning properties. Unlike foods rich in sugar, these fat burning foods keep your blood sugar levels stable and help the body burn fat efficiently. It eliminates fats deposited under tissue and leaves the body slim and fit.

What are these fat burning foods and how can you include them in your diet? To find out more, we recommend that you use our new online diet.
