Homeopathy – can it improve your health?

In 2009 leading pharmacies revealed that they didn’t believe homeopathy works. However, despite this discovery and scientific evidence which prove that homeopathy gives the same results witnessed in placebo tests, the National Health Service still spent over 4 million pounds  in the last 12 monthscreating homeopathic solutions.

Astonished by the National Health Services and leading Pharmacies ‘no harm’ theories to homeopathy, more than three hundred protestors are now planning to take part in a mass homeopathic binge to help increase awarenessabout the fact that homepathy is ineffectual.

During this demonstrationwhich is set to occur on the 30th January 2010, all 300 members will publicly swallow an entire container of 60 homeopathic tablets to demonstrate that they are nothing more than sugar pills and hopefully prompt pharmacies to stop selling them.

Where was Homeopathy discovered?

Described by many as an ‘organic herbal medicine’ most of the substances contained within this complementary herbal medicine are so dilute that there is nothing left to them.

However further research into the birth of homeopathy has found that it is not strictly an herbal medicine, but is based on 3 medical concepts produced in the 1800’s by Samuel Hahnemann. Threetenets which are still utilised in the creation of homeopathic pills to this day:

- The Law of Similars where whatever caused your symptoms will also cure them i.e. unable to sleep, take caffeine
- The Law of Infinitesimals where the more weak the remedy, the more potent it will become
- The Law of Succession where vigorous shaking of a homeopathic remedy would intensify its strength

Reviewingthis information, it is easily understandable why sceptics are asking the government to instruct the NIHCE to evaluate whether it is appropriate for the National Health Service to fund homeopathic remedies. Providing restricted if any positive results, all scientific studies point to the fact that they will not help your immune system.
