Cause of irritable bowel syndrome

The nervous system which directs the gastrointestinal organs contains both motor and sensory nerves. The sensory nerves constantly sense what is occurring within the organ and communicate this information to nerves. From there, information can be transmitted to the brain and spinal cord. Two of the most ordinary motor responses in the intestine are relaxation or contraction of the muscle of the organ and discharge of fluid and/or mucus into the organ.
The abnormalities may occur in the motor nerves, the sensory nerves, or at processing centers in the spinal cord, intestine, or brain. Some researchers disagree that the cause of functional diseases is deformity in the job of the sensory nerves. Other researchers disagree that the cause of functional diseases is deformity in the job of the motor nerves. Still others disagree that unusually functioning processing centers are accountable for functional diseases since they misconstrue normal sensations to the organ. Factually, several functional diseases might be due to motor dysfunction, sensory dysfunction, or both.
An area that is getting a huge deal of scientific attention is the possible role of gas produced by intestinal bacteria. Studies have established that patients with Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) produce bigger amounts of gas, and it may be kept longer in the small intestine. Among patients with Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), abdominal dimension increases over the day, attaining max size in the evening and returning to normal by morning.
Even though these abnormalities in generation and transport of gas could give increase to some of the symptoms of IBS, a lot more work will require to be done prior to the role of intestinal gas in IBS is apparent. Dietary fat in healthy persons causes gas as well as food to move more slowly and leisurely through the stomach and small intestine. A number of patients with Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) might even respond to dietary fat in an overstated fashion with greater slowing. Thus, nutritional fat could, and probably does worsen the symptoms of IBS. For additional information, please visit: Bowtrol Store official site today.

Thanks this was a valuable source of information. I suffer form IBS and find that dairy products can make my symptoms worse.
Eating smaller portions more regularly, rather than large meals 3 times a day seems to help with digestion and the sporadic pain associated with IBS.
