If there is only soft discomfort, the doctor might suggest over-the-counter ointments, creams or pads. These have witch hazel or a topical anti-inflammatory agent having hydrocortisone. In mixture with daily warm baths, this cure helps ease your symptoms. Often creams are accessible with herbal extracts such as witch Hazel Cream or Compress. This is prepared from the bark and leaves of a plant called Hamamelis virginiana. It is applied topically to the anal region in the form of witch hazel condensed liquid, medicated pads or ointment. It assists in relieving the pain, itching and swelling and other troubles connected with hemorrhoids.
The hemorrhoids might be removed surgically or through other methods in acute cases. Some of the surgical procedures to get rid of external hemorrhoids are:
1. Injection Sclerotherapy - A chemical solution is inserted into the mucous membrane near the hemorrhoid ensuing in inflammation and closure of the veins, thus shrinking the hemorrhoid.
2. Rubber Band Ligation - In this procedure a small rubber band is placed at the bottom of the internal hemorrhoid. The blood supply to the hemorrhoid is sliced off hence resulting in it to contract up.
3. Infrared Photocoagulation - An infrared is aimed to clot the dilated veins of the hemorrhoid. The hemorrhoids contract as the blood does not flow through the coagulated blood vessels.
4. Hemorrhoidectomy - Here the hemorrhoid is surgically detached with a scalpel, laser or cattery device.
5. Laser Coagulation - An electric current is passed to the hemorrhoids triggering a chemical reaction that halts the blood supply in the hemorrhoid and causes the swollen tissue to shrink.
There are definite natural ways of hemorrhoids removal:
1. Apply ice packs on the affected region.
2. Sitz bath, which is a little tub and is particularly designed to let the soaking of hemorrhoids without taking a bath. In this procedure the rectal area is soaked in hot water for about 15-20 minutes and about 3-4 times every day. Not only does this assists in relieving the symptoms but also helps in the shrinkage of the hemorrhoid.
