Most males suffer from male pattern baldness, where hair starts thinning out from the front, top and crown of the head. The hair on the sides and back of the head are not affected by male pattern baldness as they are not affected by DHT (dihydrotestosterone), an enzyme which is a byproduct of testosterone.
Of all the hair loss combat techniques, hair transplant is an effective hair restoration solution. In this process the hair from back and sides of the head are transplanted to the balding areas. The hair present in the donor areas, that is, back and sides of head, have a longer life and generally continue growing for the rest of our lives.

A hair transplant surgery involves removing hair from these donor areas and then inserting them into the balding areas. Through this procedure, one can get natural looking hair and a full head of hair. The hair transplant surgery is of two types; one which involves linear incision in the donor area. The other one is follicular unit extraction or FUE, as it is commonly called, which is the latest hair transplantation procedure and does not involve any incision.
Strip donor extraction belongs to the first category where linear incision is made in the donor area. Strip harvest is more cost effective and since small blades are used, it is possible to place more grafts per square cm. The healing process is faster and the whole surgery usually takes only few sessions.

The latter one is Follicular unit extraction (FUE) surgery, which is a very popular technique. But not everyone can be an ideal candidate for this type of treatment. It is slower than the strip extraction technique. This is a scar less procedure and time interval between two sessions is also very less, sometimes few weeks. If done correctly, hair transplantation gives very natural looking and dense hair.
