New anti-acne medications today involve the use of topical bioactive ingredients. Bioactive ingredients are compounds that improve the characteristics of the skin. Acne can be controlled by killing the bacteria that causes acne.

The cost of topical niacinamide gel is also low compared to some other bioactive ingredients like topical vitamin-c, topical alpha-lipoic and copper peptide.
