Age has always been a constant adversary for humanity, the search for the fountain of youth has never really ended. In our quest to be young forever, medical science has come up with major advancements. There are pills that save people from various ailments, advanced cures for major illnesses, and of course, superficial surgeries to make a person look younger.

However, what really matters is the health of a person. You may look young, take pills to eradicate sickness, and get a medical insurance for emergencies, but you cannot buy the feeling of wellbeing that age takes away. That sense, of healthy life is seems fleeting but it is not so. All you have to do to retain that is just to eat right.

A good diet should contain plant oils, plant protein, nuts, fish, unprocessed dairy products and of course Vitamins and Minerals, but to live healthy and long certain things must be considered.

The usual Vitamins and Minerals are a must have to live long, but what really is important is the quality of the Vitamins and Minerals. You should steer clear of foods are irradiated. The consumption of organic food is the best means to get good quality Vitamins and Minerals, organic food is free of any pesticides, and they are not genetically altered so they offer to you what Mother Nature intents to provide you.

Eat foods that are lowers in the food chain, they have lesser contaminants in them. Eat the freshest food possible, they not only taste good, the nutrition present in them would not deteriorate soon. When cooking, avoid using a BBQ or a Microwave; also refrain from frying and baking. The high temperature used in cooking the food damages the structure of the foods. Always try to eat local foods and judge well before having any exotic food. Certain foods go well together and promote good digestion.

Water affects the human body, just 8- 16 glasses of pure water at room temperature per day is enough to give your body system the invigoration it needs.

Processed food is another thing to stay away from in your diet, though the idea of fast food is tempting, the food served at the fast food joints can make you really sick, the popular documentary “Super Size Me”, clearly showed the downside of eating fast food. Soft drinks must also be shunned, they are processed and are full of refined sugars that give you empty calories and take away your youth. Other foods that contain refined sugar like chocolate milk and ice creams must also be avoided.

These things may seem hard to do, but they are not, the key is in eating in moderation. All you have to do is to take the first step.
