The Magic of OM

OM Meditation is an ancient meditation technique that has survived from ancient times in India and Tibet and China until today. Basically, the sound OM, according to Hindu Sages and Religious Scholars, is the sound that completely represents the entire verbal sound phenomena that lies within each one of us. OM, also spelled AUM, begins with the A (AH) sound, and finally culminates with the M (MMM) sound with the lips closed. So, according to these great scholars and sages, all possible prayers that might be actually vocalized within this “sound domain” of OM, indirectly have been said through OM.

The reason I call “OM” magical, is because in life we all seek “silver bullets”, if you will, that will address and help us to solve difficult problems. Well, because OM is so extremely simply, one might even call it the spiritual silver bullet that will help us overcome obstacles we face in daily life. I totally believe in this idea. Why? Because the Divine, essentially, is kind and wants to help us to experience life with a sense of purpose, love, compassion, and goodness, and to be totally aligned with “IT” in this experience. So, if we can adopt OM meditation as our central practice, or at least as an additional practice that complements another practice we have, then that is great.

OM is not going to necessarily grant us one million dollars or a beautiful new car instantly because OM is not some “genie”, nonetheless, it is the sound that perfectly aligns us with Divine Spirit, our True Essence, and with that alignment, new possibilities emerge for us, in all ways that we expect as well as in ways that we cannot even imagine! Like the Bible even says “come to me first, and then I will pour out all blessings upon you”.

It is important for us to first align ourselves with our Source, Divine Spirit, and the greatest saints of the Far East agree that OM is a sound that perfectly symbolizes this Source. So, with that said, let us re-examine our goals, and incorporate OM meditation to help us live with a new alignment: with our true Divine Source. OM meditation represents all Divinity, however, at the same time, if you are attached to a certain practice, by all means continue, but don’t deny yourself the opportunity of meditation where you sit in deep silence and stillness and experience for yourself the very beat of the cosmos: OM.
