Lemons:I’ve been taking various antidepressantsfor almost 2 years now, and now i’m oneffexor and a mood stabilizer. I’ve beenbecoming more and more dependant on them, and now I go through severe withdrawalsymptoms within 12 hours to an hour aftermissing a dose. I’m on a very high dosageof this medication, and i’ve tried toexplain to my father and psychiatrist thati’m addicted, but they don’t believe me.

Last night I was out at a dance and it was20 minutes to an hour after I usually takemy medication, and I started having thesame withrdawal symptoms. I was rockingback and forth sick to my stomach, staringinto space, curled up in a ball andclawing and biting at my poor boyfriend. He had to calm me down three or four timesbefore we got me home. I admit I needhelp. I just don’t know what to do, sincemy dad and psychiatrist wont help.
Miss_KellieAnne:

Hi, I’m new to the forum & have foundsome interesting & helpful info ondepression.

I’ve been diagnosed with ‘majordepression’ (is there any other kind??),since I had a motorbike accident in 2005.Since the accident I’ve also been in &out of surgery, recovery, pain meds &have been taking Effexor for over 2 yearsnow.

I’m sure that Effexor is addictive, although I take it in the morning. I don’tthink I get withdrawals but I do get theshakes badly & feel out of control ofmy emotions. Could this be from theEffexor or the pain meds?? Does anyoneknow?? Oh, my whole pill popping routineconsists of - Effexor, Seroquel, Lyrica,Mersyndol Forte, Losec (sorry don’t knowif these are known by any other name). These are the names known in Australia.

I battle daily with debilitating pain, inability to be mobile, feeling ofworthlessness, anger, tearfulness &all my Psychiatrist does is continue toincrease the Effexor, until my body getsused to it & increases it again.

The few friends I have are all fed up ofmy moodiness & have stopped calling.I’m sure that they are avoiding me. I feelguilty in burdening them. I feel guilty& selfish for dumping my feelings onthem.

Sorry I’ve rambled on…… just needed toget some questions out there & herefrom people going through the samething…..

Thanks

Hey, I was on effexor for a long time andI happen to know that it is a terribledrug to try to get off of due to it’saddictive qualities. Check out what otherpeople have to say about it at this forumhttp://www.topix.net/forum/drug/effexor/TCDBCBLD99KUQ56BF
