To know why some natural remedies for hyperthyroidism work, it pays to understand that hyperthyroidism is caused by an increased level of thyroid hormones in the body. This can cause goiters, organ failure, and changes in appearance. Natural remedies for hyperthyroidism therefore seek to lower these levels of thyroid hormones as well as to allow the body to heal itself through a variety of relaxation techniques.
These start with relaxation methods. Through colonic irrigation and a good diet, the colon and the rest of the body’s metabolic and digestive systems can be cleaned out.
Included in this is exercise. Such exercises will include yoga, tai chi, karate, and even aerobics. Swimming is also considered good exercise, especially swimming in the ocean, as it is believed that the minerals of sea water can help facilitate healing.
Also included in natural remedies for hyperthyroidism are sweating exercises, which alternative medicine advocates believe can rid the body of even more toxins, such as pesticides. Because these natural remedies are not yet conclusively proven by science, talk to your doctor first before carrying them out.
