Living With Allergies

For us, these products are very gentle on our skin and all have a nice scent about them and in some cases no scent at all. If you prefer a scent I always suggest adding a couple of drops of an essential oil yourself, that way you know exactly what else is added to the product and you can control just how much you put in.
Products that I use on a regular basis
1. Amolin clothes wash-is a liquid wash with no chemicals that is very gentle on your skin and your clothes. It doesn’t cause you to itch or your skin to become irritated. The clothes are also left smelling beautiful and feel much softer to the skin. This is available at most supermarkets.
2. Earth Choice- These guys have bought out a few different products and all of them are very good and gentle on your nose and your skin. We use toilet cleaner, floor cleaner, bench cleaner and dishwashing liquid. This can be purchased at supermarkets.
3. Bossito’s Eucalyptus oil- This is not as expensive as the essential oil and does an equally good job for cleaning. I use it with the vinegar when I wash the floors and the house smells great. I also use it to clean surfaces. You can buy this at hardware stores and supermarkets.
4. Natural Instinct- These people have quite a few products that are used with natural products and essential oils. Their products smell beautiful and they are incredibly gentle on your skin with no offensive aromas. They also don’t irritate dry skin and they help to soothe eczema. We use their body wash and sometimes the hand wash. The products are available from some pharmacies and most health food stores.
5. Melrose Organic Castile Liquid Soap- This is a nice gentle hand wash that feels lovely and silky on your skin. I add lavender, chamomile or juniper oil to help further soothe my husband’s hands as he gets quite bad eczema on them. I just pour the liquid soap into our soap dispenser and add the oils that way. This product can be purchased from most health food stores.
6. Melrose Everyday Sulphate Free soft rain water shampoo and conditioner- These products come in a 1 litre tub and I pour them into old shampoo and conditioner bottles and then add some essential oils. Lemon is a good oil for blonde hair and for highlights or shine and Rosemary oil is good for smooth hair and knots. These products are very gentle have no chemicals in them, are gentle on your scalp and if go in the eyes or on the face won’t irritate sensitive skin. These products can be purchased from most health food stores.
7. Sorbolene cream or calendula cream- Good for moisturizing dry skin and for keeping my daughters’ eczema at bay. Good for after the bath to keep their skin moist and soft. The calendula cream is also very good but a little more gentle than the sorbolene cream.
All of these products are ones that we use on a daily basis and don’t aggravate our skin or cause it to worsen. These are products that I have found and researched myself and have received no payment for including them in my book.
I truly do believe in these products and think that they do make a difference to a person’s skin, allergies and their asthma. It may not help to prevent the allergies or the asthma but in my experience it has certainly helped to manage both and unlike many chemical products it doesn’t aggravate the allergies or the asthma in any way.
However, I do recommend trying these products and seeing for yourself if they make a difference in your household. The worse that can happen is that you are pouring better products into the environment and are removing some of those horrible chemical products that adorn the supermarket shelves and many of our homes.
