Gazza_man: Does anyone with anxiety & stress getlightheaded and dizziness when they get upand walk :?: :?:
poetmcc:
Often anxiety leads to stress and this maymake your body weak. This could result inlight headedness and dizzy feelings maybe. But i’m no Dr. Though so don’t quote meon this.
minerwater522:
I have lighheaddedness…Kinda dream likewith anxiety. I’m trying to overcome itas we speak :s sux.
adambaum:
I am lightheaded and dizzy most of thetime, Dr.’s that specialize in anxietyhave told me two different things;
1. Your body is flooded with adrenalineand that makes you dizzy.

2. And most likely; when you have theadrenaline in your blood stream you aremore likely to be taking small shortbreathes as though you are hardlybreathing, this is in sync with thefight-or-flight attributes,

the 2. Dr. Told me to take 15 long deepbreathes periodically throughout the day, push out your stomach when you inhale toget air to the bottom of your lungs first. This helps get all the co2 out of yourlungs.

Please send me a private message and oremail to adambaum@insightbb.Com and I will send youan article on breathing for anxiety.

I have experienced vertigo, lightheadedness and dizzyness at 3 timesof my life, each episode lasting a fewdays to the latest one which was a fewmiserable months. Each epsiode had onething in common: a change was drasticchange was happening in my life that I hadaboslutely no control over.

The first time it happened when in 1994,when I was 44, my mother was diagnose withlou gehrigs (als), a terminal illness withabsolutely no hope of a cure. The secondtime was in 2004 when my daughter wasdiagnosed with tumors on her ovaries(which sent me spinning, but when Ilearned they were fibroids and somewhatharmless the dizzyness went away). Thethird episode happened in april of 2005and is still slightly active as of june28,2005, but not as bad as in april andmay.

This latest episode stemmed (i figure)from a combination of family changes andoverloaded stress at the work place. Ihave worked 4 straight years with novacation to keep a business afloat thatsuffered badly after “9-11″ and finallyburned myself out. The combination ofthe family changes and the burnout finallydid me in and the “wiggies” as I call themreturned in force.

I found that there were “triggers” thatset these latest dizzy spells off. Onewas when I went into the factory that Iown. I would walk into the back of theworkshop and start to spin. Also, when Ireceived phone calls from that particularfamily member, the spells would start.

I went to two doctors, I had a cat scan ofthe head, I had myself tested for innerear problems, all with no findings ofabnormalities. I talked to a counselorand it helped. I talked to friends andfamily and it helped.

I think that stress can and does causedizzyness, vertigo and lightheadedness, aswell (in me) weakness in the legs at thetime of the attack.

If it only happens on standing itsprobably postural hypotension which issometimes normal, stand up more slowly andwait before moving

I’ve been reading everyone’s reply’s andfeel the same way. I’m 34, good shape, married, greatjob, 3 little girls and struggled with GAD(generalized anxiety disorder) since earlyhighschool. I’ve read countless books andmeet significant anxiety challenges onceevery 2 or so years. Something usuallytriggers my anxiety and off we go. Ialways think i have it under control atfirst, but then I start thinking I haveheart issues, or cancer, or MS, orparkinsons from shaky hands, some otherterminal illness and it spins out ofcontrol for a few months before friendsand family help me back to normal. Itsgood to have one or two reliable people tohelp you; its critical to your success;only they can think clearly and you needthem to show the way. Currently I’mdealing with lightheadedness ever since1st week of January. its an all dayaffair with periods of good and badthroughout the day; also have thefluttering heart which seems to alwaysshow up during nervous episodes. I’mconfident its my adrenalin producingglands causing the issue. If you haven’tread the Book “Hope and Help for yourNerves” by Clair Weeks yet; GET IT! Readit over and over till you know how to dealwith this. I know I’ll beat this again aslong as I accept this as the way it is andlet time pass without getting frustrated. I’ve done it countless times even when Ithought life was coming to an end withthis damn anxiety disorder! I hope thisstory helps somebody a little, it helps mejust to write it! dont’ give up, don’tfight it, accept it, and let time pass! Might be months with plenty of setbacks, but keep staying calm and accept yourfeelings for the time being. Don’t beembarrased either, it just adds pressureto your disorder. Good Luck and GodBless!

Shannashaine:
I read your post and I can relate toeverything you said. I felt so much betterafter reading what you wrote. I too havegad. And I want to go and get thatparticular book you mentioned. I have hadconstant lightheadedness for the last 4weeks and I was not sure what was causingit. I am convinced after readingeveryone’s posts that it must be anxietyand stress related. I am so glad that Ijoined this forum.
stevid:
Hang in there and stay relaxed even whenyou feel anxious (which is probably allday). focus on keeping your muscles frombeing too tense. Don’t get frustratedcause you probably won’t feel better for afew week to months. There will be gooddays and maybe a few in a row then all thesudden, your back to one of the worstdays! This is the point where itsimperative to remember to stay calm andunderstand its just part of the process, your life.

It will get better, let your body healitself like a sore muscle does over time. Get the book and let me know if you haveany questions throughout the process!

God Bless!
Doug
Seraph:
Usually, my lightheadedness can beattributed to low-blood pressure. What isyour BP presently?
Shannashaine:

I just registered to this forum. I’ve beenhaving dizziness for the past 3 years. Ihave it basically from the time i wake up,until i lay down in bed at night. It’smuch worse when i have to stand, even fora few minutes. I almosted fainted about 3years ago, while standing in line, andever since, that lightheadedness is notleaving me. Drs are saying it’s anxiety,i’ve have all the tests done, nothingabnormal. But i still feel horrible withthis dizziness. I’m loosing a lot ofweight, i’m down to size 2 or less. Veryfrustrating. I have 2 little kids to takecare of. My husband is not helping much,he doesn’t understand what i’m goingthrough. He is not a sensitive person, makes me so sad. I did read Claire Weeksbook you mention. Doesn’t help me much. Ican’t understand how to float with thefeeling of dizziness. PLEASE HELP! I don’tknow what else to do. I don’t believe inmedication. I tried natural stuff, with nohelp. Thanks, i needed to get it off mychest:)
