How to Lose Weight Using Bowflex Revolution

A Bowflex Revolution home gym is just a piece of fitness equipment. On its own, it will do nothing for you. It’s how you use it that matters.

I know this sounds like common sense, but many people purchase a Bowflex Revolution to lose weight, and find that they get no results. Who’s to blame — the manufacturer or the home user? Well, it’s not entirely true to say that you get out what you put in. Just like practice doesn’t make perfect unless it is perfect practice, simply using your Bowflex Revolution and expecting it to help you lose weight is a bit of wishful thinking. Instead, you need a strategy.

The best way to get the most out of your Bowflex Revolution is to approach it with a specific goal in mind. “Lose weight” is not really a goal. For the sake of this article, a goal is something that can be measured by someone else and that has a deadline. For example, “lose 7 pounds in the next 10 weeks” is a goal. That’s because somebody else can come along and easily measure it, and it has a deadline.

A bad goal would be to “lose enough weight to feel better about myself within the next six weeks”. What exactly would you use to measure feeling better about yourself with? Since you can’t measure it, it will be hard for you to know when you have reached your goal.

Different goals will require different approaches to using the Bowflex Revolution. If your goal is for strength training, naturally you’re going to want to use a workout program that helps you build your muscle tone and your strength. If you are using the Bowflex Revolution more for improving your muscle endurance, then naturally you’re going to follow it very different workout program.

In any case, the real success with using a Bowflex Revolution comes from small daily improvements. It’s far better to approach your goal with this my state — improve by 1% each week. It’s a lot easier to lose 4 ounces a week for 28 weeks than it is to lose 7 pounds in six months. Even though they are basically the same goal.

I know the strategy is not sexy, nor is it revolutionary. But it is exactly how you should approach losing weight if you’re going to be using your Bowflex Revolution home gym as a catalyst to accomplishing this goal.
