Sometimes, with the stresses of every day life, you can’t prevent acne scars no matter what you do. However, there are various treatments available nowadays to help you get rid of acne scars, or at least reduce them. Here are some current acne scar treatments available today.

1. Laser Resurfacing

Sounds painful, doesn’t it? Who the heck wants to be shot with a laser? Then again, more and more people are having lasik surgery to correct eyesight problems.

If you can have your cornea shot with a laser, you can probably handle laser resurfacing.

Laser resurfacing is actually a fairly popular and simple treatment to get rid of acne scars. With laser surfacing you are basically having a layer of your upper skin burned off.

Then the area is allowed to heal, producing newer, nicer looking skin. The key to successful laser resurfacing is the proper post-operative procedure.

If you decide on laser resurfacing be very thorough in your research for a doctor to perform the procedure.

2. Dermal Fillers

In this acne scar procedure, dermal fillers, such as collagen, are injected directly into the acne scar, raising it up to be more level with the surrounding skin tissue.

Dermal fillers are no permanent and you’ll need to repeat the procedure every three to six months or so.

3. Punch Excision

Punch excision can be an effective treatment to get rid of some acne scars.

With punch excision, a surgical tool is used to cut the scar out. The remaining wound is then sewn together, leaving a scar that is less noticeable, if not unnoticeable.

If the scar that is left is still noticeable you can lessen it even more by utilizing laser resurfacing.
